Licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist, M.T.C.M, L.Ac
Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Herbalist Darin Bunch
feels fortunate to work at a center offering a comprehensive
and holistic approach, combining Eastern and Western
oncology therapies.
Acupuncture and East Asian medicine, he states, strengthen
the body's natural defenses, which assist in enhancing the
immune system. This ancient therapy helps restore and
maintain equilibrium to an individual.
Darin's patients know that those benefits are even more
important before, during and after cancer treatment.
Acupuncture has been shown to improve the results of
chemotherapy while at the same time easing nausea, pain and
other side effects while boosting the body's natural
immunity for an integrated approach to fighting cancer.
Darin attended the renowned Northwest Institute of
Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (NIAOM) where he earned his
Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine (M.T.C.M.). He is a
Diplomate in Acupuncture by the National Certification
Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine and is
licensed in the state of Washington. He also holds a degree
in psychology from Seattle University.
People have been traveling to Darin at the Seattle Cancer
Treatment and Wellness Center since 2002. They hail from all
over the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii and Alaska. In fact,
Darin was featured in the August, 2010 issue of the
prestigious Seattle Metropolitan Magazine as one of
Seattle's "Top Docs" in the field
of acupuncture, as chosen in a survey of 1,200
professionals. He was also invited to contribute to and was
featured in the book Living Lessons, by Mark Shigihara, RPh
& Kim Erickson (Active Interest Media, Inc, 2010).
Darin has lectured first and second-year medical students at
the University of Washington. He has also lectured
extensively on the integration of acupuncture & Chinese
medicine with Western oncology at Gildaʼs Club. In addition,
he has assisted in teaching "clean needle technique" at
NIAOM.
Darin continues to follow his passion into the upper
echelons of his field. In 2010, he was accepted into the
reputable Oregon College of Oriental Medicine to pursue his
Clinical Doctorate of Acupuncture & Oriental medicine
(D.A.O.M.).
He believes that his patients' participation plays an
intricate role in their own health and wellness. "I may be
teaching them about traditional Chinese medicine," he says,
"but my patients teach me every day. The teacher becomes the
student and the student becomes the teacher".
